WELCOME!

My name is Audrey (she/her). I am a woman of color, filipinx, and…

mama.

apprentice midwife.

M.D.

western clinical herbalist.

doula.

placenta encapsulator.

My journey in birth work began in 2012, when I was in medical school working towards specializing in obstetrics. Before graduating, I struggled with personal health issues and found myself looking outside of western medicine for options. This shifted my perspective on how I lived my life and what I considered “optimal health care”. Instead of training in a residency program, I decided to become a certified western clinical herbalist. I then began working in my community offering herbal support for a variety of medical conditions.

It was after the birth of my children that brought me back into the birthing world. Working with nurse midwives with my son and home birth midwives with my daughter revealed a model of care that allowed for autonomy and shared decision making. As an aspiring midwife, I hope to support and educate pregnant folks and their families to make informed decisions regarding their prenatal and postpartum care.

One of my biggest motivators for becoming a midwife is to diversity midwifery, a profession that significantly lacks BIPOC representation. I hope to increase access to midwifery care for marginalized groups and provide culturally congruent care in an effort to reduce racial disparities that exist in birth outcomes.

Currently, I am a student midwife at Midwives College of Utah and apprenticing with a home birth midwifery practice serving families of the Bay Area.

In my free time, you can find me spending time with my family, in my kitchen pretending to be a contestant on a baking show, going on hikes, foraging for herbs, and enjoying a good vinyl record.

i look forward to meeting you!
